Stop US-NATO expansion and wars of aggression International League of Peoples’ Struggle (ILPS)

anti-imperialist, anti-war and peace movements all over the world are mobilizing against the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) as it holds its Summit on 24 – 25 May 2017 at its new headquarters in Brussels, Belgium. The NATO is the biggest political-military alliance in history, with 28 member countries led by U.S. imperialism.
As in past summits, NATO leaders including US president Donald Trump will be affirming and extending their policy of war through this imperialist military machine. The NATO is already engaged in illegal wars and military interventions, from Yugoslavia to Afghanistan, Libya, Iraq, Syria, the Mediterranean Sea and the Indian Ocean; and escalating tensions with Russia.  NATO members have recently committed to increase their military budgets to 2% of GDP and spend 20% of their defense budgets on military equipment.
In the face of grave and mounting threats posed by imperialist wars, militarization and neofascism , the ILPS recognizes the need to strengthen peoples’ calls and actions to oppose imperialist wars of aggression and intervention led by the United States and its allies in the NATO.  There is also an urgent need to foster and strengthen links among progressive anti-war groups in different countries, and between anti-war groups and resistance movements in oppressed countries.
Therefore the ILPS calls on its members and allies in all countries to hold protest actions in front of US embassies, US bases or other symbols of US imperialist power on 24 May 2017.  ILPS members and allies in Europe will also be participating in the Peoples counter-NATO Summit actions on 24 and 25 May 2017 in Brussels.
